EF+LM Awarded BEST: Made in America Award

Made in America. There was a time when America was an amazing nation of manufacturers of many of the leading products in the world. In fact, America was the leading manufacturer in the world in many areas of production. If a product said “Made in America”, you were assured of quality and reliability. And while Made In America was at times a bit on the pricey side, it was worth it. Then, gradually, that changed, and at some point Made In America became too expensive, and made -in -everywhere else became popular. Asia took over, and suddenly everything was much less expensive, but the quality suffered. As an example, I suppose, my wife and I bought dark green Adirondack Chairs from a venerable American store (you have heard of them!) and while in storage over the winter they all rotted and grew significant quantities of strange gray mushrooms all over every part of the chairs! We thought that since the store was a famous American brand, so would be our chairs. We were mistaken, and longed for the days when American quality, even if expensive, was at least available!

Well, throughout all of this ebb and flow of American manufacturing, Edward Ferrell + Lewis Mittman kept on making very high quality furniture in North Carolina, not for retail but for interior designers. Beautiful upholstery, fabulous occasional tables. EF+LM shipped those upholstery orders in 3 weeks as promised, as the company still does today. Apparently, someone noticed. Our company has just been awarded the award “BEST: Made in America 2013″. It is nice to see an award like this go to a small fine furniture manufacturer that prides itself on quality value and service each and every day.

Try us. Shouldn’t your clients get the best that America has to offer? For 2013 at any rate, that is Edward Ferrell+ Lewis Mittman. To-The Trade and American Made.

Another Way to Look at EF+LM

Make EF+LM Your Workroom for Upholstery

Recently, as a part of my indoctrination as President & CEO of Edward Ferrell + Lewis Mittman, I journeyed to their manufacturing facilities in High Point, NC. I was very pleasantly surprised by what I found: This is by far the cleanest, brightest and most climate-controlled factory I have been in, because the quality of their furniture is reflected in every aspect of their built environment. EF+LM has nearly 100,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space in High Point, and yet it feels like a very clean and attractive local work room, albeit a huge one. For a company that often ships in just three weeks (upholstery), the shop floor is organized and controlled, and amazingly clean. Ever been in a small local workroom? I have, and most do not look like this. No wonder the company has such a great reputation- it starts with the factory, and this one is a good one! Come visit!

Interestingly, EF+LM makes some of the finest furniture in America in High Point, but is NOT a part of the High Point Furniture Market, preferring to sell locally and exclusively through accredited interior designers and showrooms. More interestingly, over half of their production is custom product for interior design projects, which reflects the growing trend towards custom design by professional designers. Now, more than ever, designers create special custom pieces as an alternative to standard merchandise so easily available at retail. You might say that EF+LM specializes in custom, especially in upholstered furniture. For an interior designer trying to create a unique piece for their client, making that special piece at EF+LM means making it right, making it quickly, and making it cost-effectively. I saw it with my own eyes, and was truly impressed. Many furniture lines do not have their own factory. EF+LM does, and it is one of the best.

So please consider making EF+LM your special work room – your special enormous work room. EF+LM is very hard to beat, and very worth your serious consideration.

So come visit your workroom and let us make something special for your client.
